● Edge LED
With this type of screen, the light-emitting diodes are distributed along the entire edge of the screen, either completely surrounding it or occupying only one of the four ends. However, the presence of light reflectors ensures homogeneous illumination over the entire surface of the screen, although not with as much precision as in Full LED monitors. Of course: Edge LED screens are thinner than the latter.

● Full LED With Screen
The distribution of diodes in Full LED screens is already used by many televisions. In this case, the LEDs intended for backlighting are hidden behind the LCD screen, encompassing it in its entirety. Hence, the feedback it offers is more homogeneous than that of the Edge LED. Of course: as a disadvantage compared to this latest technology, it should be noted that the thickness of the screen will be somewhat greater. On the other hand, displays that use RGB LEDs (that is, with red, green and blue primary colours) provide an even greater colour palette.

● Direct LED
This system is not used much, since the image quality it provides is inferior to the previous cases. In addition, it requires televisions to be thicker, given the distribution of LED lighting. Direct LED screens have the diodes located on the back. This characteristic is very similar to that of the Full LED, but with a difference: the number of LEDs is clearly less, so the lighting is not as good. Although they represent an improvement in brightness compared to the Edge LED, they do not offer the performance of the Full LED. Likewise, they do not usually have the local dimming option (we will see what it consists of below).

● Edge LED With Local Dimming
Each LED diode has an artificial intelligence that allows it to turn on and off automatically. In other words, the diodes are illuminated by sectors, depending on the information received from the images broadcast and from the digital processor of the board. This particularity means that, if a program or movie has been recorded under excessive or insufficient light conditions, the Edge LED with the local dimming function can correct this problem, thus offering images of great realism. However, there may be viewers who prefer to do without this automatic setting, especially if they are going to watch a film noir, horror or expressly shot in dark or night environments. When this occurs, local dimming can be disabled.

● Full LED With Local Dimming
The Edge LED technology screen has the same advantages when it comes to correcting lighting problems during broadcast. In this case, the light is even more homogeneous, and although, as mentioned, the screen tends to be thicker.

 

● OLED
It is based on the use of organic light-emitting diodes (in English, organic light-emitting diode). This type of diode has an electroluminescent layer made up of a film of organic components. These react to a certain electrical stimulation, generating and emitting light by themselves. OLED does not require a backlight.

 

How to maintain Outdoor LED Screen?

 

1. Conform the right sequence of start-up and shut-down.
If you want to start up outdoor LED display, you have to turn on the computer first, and then turn on the screen.
If you want to turn off the waterproof LED display, please reverse the process – turn off the screen firstly, and then the control computer. Besides, the interval between switching on and off should be at least 1 minute. And do not play in full white, red, green, blue, and other full-bright screens for a long time, as the LED screen will be at maximum power and result in the greatest impulse current to the entire power distribution system.

 

2. As outdoor LED digital sign board usually is exposed to a changeable environment, and there will be risks of sunlight, wind, dust, and moisture naturally. Thus, we need to clean the display routinely.
Here we list steps for you to follow:
(1) Blowing dust:
Blow the dust in the same direction such as left to right in a horizontal and even way. Then you can choose appropriate equipment such as a professional electronic brush to clean the dust or dirt on the surface of LED display module.
(2) Cleaning:
You can spray the cleaning agent on the surface or dampen the cloth but don't sop it with too much liquid then clean the screen lightly.
(3) Removing Dust Again:
Use the brush to clean up the LED display module again. Please clean the brush before using it to avoid re-pollution.
(4) Cleaning the Screen Again:
Use a cleaning agent again to remove the dust left behind by the last step.
You can decide the concentration of the mixed liquor of water and cleaning solution depending on the residual dirt. Please keep the same direction when using it such as from top to bottom or from right to left.
(5) Air Drying or Blow-Drying:
In an appropriate circumstance, you can dry the LED display in a natural way. When there is low temperature and high humidity, it is recommended to blow dry the screen.
Please choose the advisable air pressure of the air gun.
(6) Repair:
Spray or dip LED display repair agent on the surface.

3. The surrounding environment can not be too much moisture and try utmost effort to prevent water-entering of screen.
Besides, try to place the display at environment with less dust. In a word, choose an appropriate operating environment of LED screen.

 

4. The power supply should be stable, and ground protection should be well done.
If there is strong lighting and thunder, please turn off the screen as far as possible.

 

5. The rest time for a LED screen should at least reach 3-5 hours a day. Especially in plum rain season, LED display screen should be turned on at least more than 4 times a month.

6. The auxiliary equipment such as control computers should be placed in a room with small dust and an air conditioner to guarantee normal working and heat-dissipation of the computer.

 

7. Although the theoretical service life can reach 1,00,000 hours, LED display screen may happen deterioration of uniformity after running 5,000 to 10,000 hours, which will lead to lower business value.

How to Choose Outdoor LED Screen?
 
Minimum Viewing Distance

The minimum viewing distance of a display is the shortest distance at which a person can clearly read the text or recognize what's being shown on it. The minimum viewing distance depends on the resolution of your panel, and the size of the display.
So how do you take this into consideration on purchasing a display? You'll want to pay close attention to the pixel pitch - the lower the pixel pitch, the higher the image quality and resolution (and vice versa).
